Crime-taint boot on BJP foot
Almost every fourth BJP MLA in the new Karnataka Assembly is tainted by criminal charges, Election Commission records show.
Of all the southern state’s MLAs who face criminal cases, over 60 per cent come from the BJP, which frequently accuses the Congress of criminalising politics.
A civil society poll watchdog has called on the BJP not to pick any of these tainted MLAs as ministers. State Congress officials have indicated to The Telegraph they are likely to “expose the BJP’s double standards” if any of these MLAs gets a ministry berth.
Records obtained from the poll commission show that 25 of the 110 BJP lawmakers face criminal charges.
They are accused of crimes ranging from cheating people out of their property to rioting, arson, attempted murder and defamation. Two face cases for allegedly preventing a public servant from doing his duty — one of them being charged with assaulting an officer on duty. Another lawmaker is accused of not filing tax returns.
C.T. Ravi, BJP legislator from Chikmagalur, is charged with “promoting enmity among people on grounds of religion, caste, race, etc”.
Of the Congress’s 80 MLAs, eight face criminal cases while H.D. Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal (Secular) has seven such MLAs out of 28. None of the six Independent MLAs, all being wooed by the BJP as it tries to form a government, faces any cases.
Which means that of the state’s 40 tainted MLAs, the BJP has 25.
“We will raise the issue, especially if any of these candidates is given a minister’s post. They have frequently accused the UPA of giving cabinet berths to people with criminal cases against them. It is our turn to return the favour,” a Bangalore-based Congress leader said.
Karnataka Election Watch, an NGO whose members include teachers from the Indian Institute of Management and the Indian Institute of Science, wants these MLAs kept out of the ministry.
Three days before the Karnataka results were declared, the BJP had, on May 22, accused the UPA of criminalising governance. As the UPA celebrated four years in power, the BJP highlighted the pending criminal cases against a minister.
In 2004, the Opposition had raised a storm in Parliament after Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Shibu Soren, accused of murdering his former secretary Shashinath Jha, was made coal minister in the UPA government.

Karnataka waits for todays counting
The next Karnataka government will become clear on Sunday when votes cast in the three-phase Assembly elections are counted at 48 centres across the state.
Counting will begin at 0800 hrs IST and results for the 224 Assembly constituencies are expected to be out by 1500 hrs IST.
Chief Electoral Officer M N Vidyashankar said a well-connected network between counting centres and the election office would ensure results are announced “real-time”.
The BJP and Congress have dismissed pre-poll and post-poll findings and claim that they will form the government on their own.
JD(S) president and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda had said earlier that no one can form a government without his party's support but now says his party will get a clear majority.
The voting percentage this time showed a marginal decline with 64.72 per cent of the 4.07 crore electorate exercising their franchise as against 64.9 per cent in 2004.
A total of 2,241 candidates contested the elections held in three phases on May 10, 16 and 22 in which 46,000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) were deployed.
In the 2004 assembly election, 1,715 were in the fray. The Congress contested 222 seats, BJP 224 and JDS 219. BSP, which is in power in Uttar Pradesh, contested 218 seats and threatens to cut into the vote share of Congress like in Gujarat during the Assembly elections last December.
BJP chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa, Samajwadi Party leader S Bangarappa, JD(S) leader and former CM H D Kumaraswamy, his brother H D Revanna, state Congress president M Mallikarjun Kharge, former chief minister N Dharam Singh, former deputy chief ministers Siddaramaiah and M P Prakash will be among the prominent candidates whose fortunes will be known tomorrow.
Other notable contestants are: two sons of Bangarappa, Kumar and Madhu, locked in a sibling battle of ballot in Soraba, former ministers R V Deshpande, D K Shivakumar, A Krishnappa, Ramalinga Reddy, Dr G Parameshwara (all Cong), K S Eswarappa, Jagadish Shettar, Katta Subramanya Naidu, R Ashok (all BJP), N Cheluvaraya Swamy of JD(S) and JD(S) state unit
party president Merajuddin Patel.
Seven Members of Parliament too are trying their luck to enter the assembly. They are film star-turned politician, M H Ambareesh, A Venkatesh Naik, Narsingrao Suryavamshi (all Cong), Basavanagouda Patil Yatnal, Ramesh Jigajinagi, G Karunakara Reddy (all BJP) and S Bangarappa of Samajwadi Party.

At the end of four years full of political action and drama, the electorate appears to have given a rather undramatic verdict: if we go by the CNN-IBN-Deccan Herald-CSDS poll, all the three major parties appear to be exactly where they were in 2004 in terms of their vote share.
The Congress is expected to secure around 35 per cent votes, the same as last time. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contesting on its own is likely to secure the same vote share of 30 per cent which it secured in alliance with Janata Dal (United) last time.
Despite many prophecies of doom, the Janata Dal (Secular) appears to have retained its share of 21 per cent votes.
Other players like the JD(U), the BSP and the SP do not appear to have made a dent, even allowing for the fact that surveys tend to under-estimate smaller parties.

There are some enjoyable witty one liners and overall comedy isn't upto the mark compared to Puri's earlier films.Sunil did well,Ali appears in 3 different roles (including a
gay).

Review: 'Indiana Jones' works but doesn't shine
It's been a long, long time since the last "last" time: When Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr. rode off into the sunset in May 1989, courtesy of "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," the Berlin Wall was still standing, George H.W. Bush was only four months into his presidency, and Harrison Ford was just a young whippersnapper of 46.

Quite why Ford, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas -- three of the wealthiest men in Hollywood -- should feel the need to resurrect Indiana Jones at this late stage of the game is anybody's guess. The three men have a combined age of 191, but like many boomers, they're not ready for the rest home just yet, even if living in the past seems a strange way to show it.
The first Indiana Jones film, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," was already a nostalgia trip when it was released in 1981, a guileless celebration of the old-fashioned Saturday morning adventure serials that were a staple for any kid growing up in the '30s, '40s and '50s. That makes the new film, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," a throwback to a throwback.
But time is catching up with the series.
The new film is set in 1957, enabling Ford to act his age (or something like it). But this is the outer edge of a time when America could still believe in the simple black-and-white morality Indiana represents. If the Nazis and the Reds couldn't finish him off, the '60s surely would.
Still, in some ways, the extra years suit Ford. Indiana has always been a surly old sourpuss, a pragmatic, world-weary hero in the classic WWII mold. Indy's fondness for griping is part of what makes him human. And when it comes to trading punches, cracking heads or disinterring the dead, Ford can still get it done. If he can't, his stunt double can.
The movie opens in Nevada, where Dr. Jones is caught up in a daring raid on Area 51 led by Soviet agent Irina Spalko, played by a Cate Blanchett in a severe black bob, long black rubber gloves and a rapier. (It's a get-up so outré, even Joe Stalin would smile.) In a twist worthy of "The Twilight Zone," Indy finds himself in an ersatz small town populated by cardboard figures watching "Howdy Doody" -- a test site for an imminent A-bomb explosion.
This bravura, breakneck opening immediately rekindles the old magic: the mixture of bravado and wit with action sequences that keep piling on layer upon layer of peril. Unfortunately, this is also the high point of the movie, or close to it.
Indiana's brush with the Reds makes him a person of interest to the FBI just after the height of the McCarthy period, a quick, passing nod toward a post-9/11 sensibility that the movie runs away from almost as desperately as Indy scrambles from an army of man-eating ants. At this point, screenwriter David Koepp in effect starts the story all over again, this time with Brylcreemed biker Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf) making a clumsy pitch about rescuing his mom from kidnappers in South America.
That, and something about a legendary crystal skull, get Indiana Jones' juices churning, and suddenly the old professor and the young tough are off on an adventure.
This outlandish hokum doesn't bear close scrutiny, so it's probably just as well Dr. Jones is not one for introspection. He does his thinking on his feet, and so does Spielberg, who sometimes seems to be directing this with one eye on the exit signs.
It is good to see Karen Allen back as Marion Ravenwood, easily the pick of Indiana's women. She lends the enterprise some heart that is sorely lacking elsewhere. It's just a pity Koepp can't find more for her to do. (Ray Winstone, as an Indy colleague, is also poorly used.)
A long jungle chase is another bona fide highlight, but Spielberg and Lucas misjudge the film's extravagant CGI climax; I won't spoil it here, but it feels alien to Indy's world. Let's just say we have seen this before, from Spielberg himself, and done better, too.

Hackers Focus Efforts on Firefox, Safari
Many people are switching from Internet Explorer to alternative browsers such as Firefox and Safari. Though that might make 
them feel more secure, the shift has also opened new doors for bad guys.
Case in point: We have no IE bugs to report this month, but both Firefox and Safari have been hit hard.
So forget the idea that just because you've switched to a new browser, you're magically safer. You may be for a time, but to stay safe with any software, you need to keep current with fixes.
In a somewhat dubious recognition of Firefox's growing popularity, hackers have focused their attention on it, leading to a rash of newly discovered holes. The folks at Mozilla recently released two Firefox updates in less than six weeks, fixing a total of five critical security vulnerabilities. All five can be exploited by planting a poisoned JavaScript file in a Web site and waiting for you to stumble across it.
In an actual attack--neither the Safari nor the Firefox bugs have elicited one so far--a bad guy could take over your PC or steal your navigation history.
Thelatest versions of Firefox--2.0.0.13 on--will stop all five bugs. Mozilla's Thunderbird and SeaMonkey are also at risk (if you have JavaScript enabled), sodownload updated versions.

Be sure to apply the patches, if your system doesn't install them automatically. Get the four new Office patches and more info. (You are not affected if Microsoft Office 2007 is the version you use.)
No sooner had Microsoft shipped those patches than the company acknowledged the existence of yet another bad Office bug that needs patching. And this one is urgent because some users have already been attacked.
Luckily, Windows Vista, Windows Vista SP1, and the beta version of Windows XP SP3 are not at risk because they ship with a newer version of the affected "Jet" database. But earlier versions of Windows are vulnerable, as are all supported versions of Office, including Office 2007.

Exclusive: Soundarya Rajnikant's film with Mahesh
Mahesh Babu is getting bigger by day. Tamil superstar Rajnikant's daughter Soundarya has now signed him up. Soundarya who has just turned producer and associated with Hollywood giant Warner Brothers has roped in Mahesh Babu and hotshot director Puri Jagannadh for her maiden Telugu production. Yes, the Pokiri team is repeating again.
Soundarya has made Mahesh and Puri to agree to work again. The film will begin in January 2008.
Soundarya's company, Ocher Studios, has entered into an exclusive multi-picture deal with Warner Bros Pictures India. She is already producing a film in Tamil with hero Ajith on part of this deal.
In Telugu, she has chosen the Pokiri team.

Firefox 3 - The speediest browser...
This is claimed by just not me but many firefox users and the LifeHacker team has come up with some solid statement which goes like this...
Mozilla VP of engineering Mike Schroepfer claims that Firefox 3 is 9.3x faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and 2.7x faster than Firefox 2 in terms of JavaScript performance. In terms of Gmail message load time, he claims Firefox 3 is 6.8x faster than IE7 and 3.8x faster than Firefox 2. And he says Firefox 3 beats Apple's Safari, which is also faster than Firefox 2.
But I still prefer Safari over firefox 3 because the 3 rd version isn't yet supporting all the addons that I need and love. But you can give a try....

Shiva - An eulogy
It has been 15 years to this day that a movie by a new director was released with minimal pre-release hype and went on to be the most revolutionary movie in the history of Telugu cinema for the past 2-3 decades. There have been better movies before and better movies after. There have been more successful movies before and more successful movies after. But no other movie before or since has made a greater impact on filmgoers as this movie and become the icon of an entire generation of 15-25 year olds. The movie is Shiva, released on October 5th, 1989. This article is a homage to that epochal day.
Shiva marked an inflexion point in my life, personally, when movies stopped being an interest and became a passion. It was a wonderful time to be 15 (or 17 or 19 …) when I went into Devi theatre on November 26, 1989 feeling like a boy and came out an adult. Shiva showed me the power of cinema and the power of the visual media.
Memories: Every scene in Shiva is etched in our collective memory. Every backdrop is marked out clearly in our memories to be passed on to kids down the ages. Every location was known to us – I do not how many are true and how many apocryphal. The college is where they study is apparently Keyes High School in Secunderabad, the house where he stays with his brother is in S.R Nagar, the cinema hall where they go for a movie is Vimal in Balanagar, the bar where Chinna runs out of is Urvashi Bar in Punjagutta, the house where Shiva stays after marriage is in Lalaguda etc etc. Every guy with a child on his cycle became Shiva. After the movie, countless kids in our school would etch an image of chain on to their desks and numerous shops would be named Shiva in that wonderful calligraphy in red.
Right from posters to photography to promos, Shiva marked a breath of fresh air in Telugu cinema.
Photography: At a time when photographers like P.C. Sriram were making waves, S.Gopal Reddy proved his worth with his brilliant photography. What Shiva will be most remembered for are its wonderful, chase sequences brilliantly shot with a steadi-cam. Steadi-cams were being used even before this movie but never to such effect as in this movie. Shiva led to a huge increase in popularity in usage of steadi-cams, by both accomplished directors like Mani Rathnam and even mainstream commercial directors. In Shiva, the action is more through movement and momentum than aggression. The steadi-cam makes the audience feel every movement with the camera.
Editing: Shiva was criticised by many for being overly violent. I had some uncles and aunts walking out of the theatre at the violence. If you observe the movie closely, there are few scenes of bloodshed and gore. I mean, nothing compared to the movies nowadays. Many criticise Shiva for starting this trend. Most of the violence in Shiva is unseen, it is the way the editor cut the movie. The violence is played over in the viewers mind. Take the scene where Naresh is assaulted, his head is taken to a boulder, the camera takes the boulder’s place and Naresh’s head is pushed toward the camera. Cut. We are not shown his head breaking, his blood splattering etc. If it were shown the scene would have ended there for the viewer however cutting the scene makes the viewer imagine it in three of four different ways and the violence is played over in our minds so many times. This amplifies the violence for the audience. In fact, we are not even shown Naresh’s body in the hospital. A similar pattern can be seen when Sudhakar is killed when he in on the ground, and the axe is raised and the scene is cut.
The undercurrent of violence in Shiva, to a large extent, has to be credited to the editor Sathi Babu. This coupled with the tight screenplay never allows the proceeding to change tone or momentum.
Music: There is nothing left to say about the Illayaraja’s songs. I would like to make a point about the background music which still replays in my mind whenever I visualise any scene. Powerful and evocative. It is a pity the art of background music is losing out these days to music directors who do not know the value of a good score.
Direction: Ramgopal Varma main skills were in writing a tight screenplay and using the assets at his disposal, photograpy, editing and music to visualise a thin story and create a lasting impression. More than anything else, he inspired a generation of filmmakers who took hope from a young 27 year olds first effort and took to film direction. The past 15 years of the Telugu film industry are littered with his protégés – Teja, Krishna Vamshi, etc. – some successful and some not so. He introduced Mani Sharma in Raathri where he scored the background music. Teja’s first photography venture was also Raathri. Rasool, the steadicam operator in Shiva, made his photography debut in Gayam and later directed “Okariki Okaru”.
Posters and promos: The first time I saw the poster of Shiva was the one where Nagarjuna is walking with five people spread out in the background and a rising railway gate (the scene where Amala is abducted and rescued). This and several other posters (another memorable one being a degree certificate being rolled by a chain with the caption “He was the nice guy in college till they made him a graduate in inhumanities”) were markedly different from the run of the mill posters in vogue back then. The usage of English in these posters was also so new to the audiences (who now are bored repetitively with mindless captions). Even the TV Promos were in English. A short scene ending with a voice over “Nagarjuna in Shiva” very much like a Hollywood promo.

I wonder how many of you are less than 25 years old to whom the movie must have come at a bit too young an age. The true worth of a movie is in its ability to withtstand the ravages of time and Shiva does come out strongly here. Shiva to this day still gives me goosebumps whenever I see it and imagine Raja’s score playing on the background. The art of cinema journalism and cinema history is not too prevalent in India but I surely wish someone would write a book on Shiva and bring home those memories.
Shiva marked an inflexion point in my life, personally, when movies stopped being an interest and became a passion. It was a wonderful time to be 15 (or 17 or 19 …) when I went into Devi theatre on November 26, 1989 feeling like a boy and came out an adult. Shiva showed me the power of cinema and the power of the visual media.
Memories: Every scene in Shiva is etched in our collective memory. Every backdrop is marked out clearly in our memories to be passed on to kids down the ages. Every location was known to us – I do not how many are true and how many apocryphal. The college is where they study is apparently Keyes High School in Secunderabad, the house where he stays with his brother is in S.R Nagar, the cinema hall where they go for a movie is Vimal in Balanagar, the bar where Chinna runs out of is Urvashi Bar in Punjagutta, the house where Shiva stays after marriage is in Lalaguda etc etc. Every guy with a child on his cycle became Shiva. After the movie, countless kids in our school would etch an image of chain on to their desks and numerous shops would be named Shiva in that wonderful calligraphy in red.
Right from posters to photography to promos, Shiva marked a breath of fresh air in Telugu cinema.
Photography: At a time when photographers like P.C. Sriram were making waves, S.Gopal Reddy proved his worth with his brilliant photography. What Shiva will be most remembered for are its wonderful, chase sequences brilliantly shot with a steadi-cam. Steadi-cams were being used even before this movie but never to such effect as in this movie. Shiva led to a huge increase in popularity in usage of steadi-cams, by both accomplished directors like Mani Rathnam and even mainstream commercial directors. In Shiva, the action is more through movement and momentum than aggression. The steadi-cam makes the audience feel every movement with the camera.
Editing: Shiva was criticised by many for being overly violent. I had some uncles and aunts walking out of the theatre at the violence. I hope you will get to read my post. I woke up this morning and logged into Bollywood Hungama and I could not believe the content of the article posted on that website so I checked your blog for confirmation.
I have been a life long fan of yours and I have always respected you as an actor par excellence and as an intellectual. I have looked up to you for most of my life and your movies have entertained us for decades. I strongly supported you during the Narmada dam controversy and a number of other controversies.
I was truly shocked to read your comments and I am very disappointed. I am not a huge admirer of SRK's acting abilities but he is by far the most charismatic and most popular star representing the east. He has earned the respect of millions of people. The comments you have posted on your blog are extremely offensive to all fans of the Indian cinema and not just SRK and his fans.
I think that you should have considered the cultural sensitivities that surround those comments. There are certain rules that need be followed and certain lines that are not to be crossed when addressing your competitors and adversaries in public.
You might notice that this is my first post on your website and I rarely comment on such issues but those outrageous comments are extremely hard to ignore. According to media reports, SRK's wife and his children are big fans of your work and I would like to know how you would face them after making those comments that are usually attributed to unsavory individuals.
I am sure you are aware of the backlash Michael Richards faced following his racist rant and I am not comparing your comments to his racist remarks, but he made it very difficult for a lot of Seinfeld fans including myself to enjoy that show after that ugly episode. I am sure that you are aware that SRK and you possibly share millions of fans and I hope you will understand that those comments were extremely offensive to a lot of people. I believe that you should immediately apologize to SRK and all fans of Indian Cinema for those appalling comments. I want to be able to respect one of my favorite actors once again.

I’m sitting under a tree, on the edge of a valley, approximately 5000 feet above sea level. The river Krishna flows far below us snaking its way among the Sahyadri mountains. A cool breeze is blowing, jannat ki hawa (breeze from the heavens), as my mother calls it. Ammi, Ira and Junaid are by my side and we are in the middle of one of our favourite board games ‘Settlers Of Catan’. Shahrukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for?
Now, before you jump to any conclusions let me add that Shahrukh is the name of our dog. And before you jump to any further conclusions let me add that I had nothing to do with naming him. In fact Shahrukh is the dog of the caretakers of our house. When I bought this house it came with the caretakers and their dog! Apparently Shahrukh (the actor) was shooting for a commercial in this house a few years ago, and that very day the caretakers bought a pup…, and named him Shahrukh. What are the chances of me buying a house which comes with a dog called Shahrukh!!!
Some of my friends claim that I bought the house just because of the dog. I would have to be a serious fan of Shahrukh’s to want to do that. Your guess…
All I can say is I’m waiting for him to come over, .
Getting back to Settlers of Catan, it’s a wonderful game. You must try it if you are fond of board games.
All in all I am having a great time with my mom and kids here in my favorite place on earth, Panchgani. I think Kiran and I must have done something good in our life to be blessed with this great place to get away to.
My hamstring muscle seems to be healing, slowly but surely.
Catching up on films, saw Casino Royale last night which I liked.
Incidentally Panchgani is a favorite with para-gliders. Now that’s something I am going to learn as soon as I finish with the Ghajini shoot.
Well Shahrukh is once again begging for my attention, so let me get back to him. He is smelling too much, I think he needs a bath. “Heel boy, heel.”

Who would think that 13 years have passed since the first time this jodi came together? At that time, the director was merely the scion of a great filmmaking family and the star was best known for taking on negative roles that no one else would. Then the magic they conjured up in their first film together, redefined Hindi cinema and set them on their respective paths to the heights of glory.
Now 13 years after Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge first took the country by storm, and eight years after Mohabbatein, the jodi of Aditya Chopra, superstar director, and Shah Rukh Khan, superstar actor are together again, this time for the latest from Aditya Chopra as director, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with newcomer Anushka Sharma who joined in on the first day of shoot. It was evident that Shah Rukh Khan was approaching this new role with his old comrade, with as much gusto and passion as ever.
"Starting the first day of shooting is what still gives me goose bumps like nothing else," said King Khan. "And to make films with Yash Raj, that too when Adi is directing, is an experience that is more than 100% exciting. Now 13 years after Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge first took the country by storm, and eight years after Mohabbatein, the jodi of Aditya Chopra, superstar director, and Shah Rukh Khan, superstar actor are together again, this time for the latest from Aditya Chopra as director, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with newcomer Anushka Sharma who joined in on the first day of shoot. It was evident that Shah Rukh Khan was approaching this new role with his old comrade, with as much gusto and passion as ever.
"Starting the first day of shooting is what still gives me goose bumps like nothing else," said King Khan. "And to make films with Yash Raj, that too when Adi is directing, is an experience that is more than 100% exciting. Yash Raj Films is, and will always be, home for me and who doesn't love coming home? Yash ji and Adi have always given me roles that have gotten me love and appreciation from fans all over the world. And this time Adi has again written a character for me to play that I think will become as beloved as Raj of DDLJ was. I am going to be trying as usual to hit it out of the park with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi."

WRONG NUMBER
It was the day of my son's XII results and I was so
tensed. I sat beside him while he logged on the
website with his registration no. "Ma", he screamed in
excitement," I scored 1191, with centum in 4 subjects.
I cant believe it. " I kinda became numb in my
excitement. My eyes became wet. I kissed him on his
forehead and smiled.
Soon we realized that he stood first in the state. Oh,
my joy knew no bounds when Reporters and media persons
soon swamped my house for interviews and photos. I was
so honored to join him in the snaps.
I wanted to call my "wrong-number-friend to tell him
the news......I was so excited. He was someone whom I
have known for more than 20 years.
I still do not remember when we became friends, but
certainly cannot forget the first day he called me
when I blasted him for giving me so many wrong
calls.....after that he had called up a week later
asking apology, for he had now got the right no of his
friend whom he wanted to talk to .We spoke for an hour
that day...even without knowing each other's names.
Though he kept pestering me to reveal my name I never
did and so he kept a name...Sweety. I used to get so
shy whenever he called me 'Sweety'. I was doing first
year of BSc. Maths then, and he was a Computer
Engineering student.
From then he used to call me very often . We almost
discussed everything ..
By the final year of my college, we probably we were
in love, but I had been cautious. I was in a dilemma
whether to tell him. But what if he was of a different
religion? Do I have the courage to talk to my parents
about it? ........all these questions ran through my
mind.
I decided I'll not talk to him thereafter. When he
called next time I lied to him I that I was going to
Delhi for my post graduation. He gave me his office
number and asked me to ring him up once I reach there.
I never called .......
A couple of months later my marriage got fixed with a
guy of my parent's choice. I was not happy but I did
not complain; rather accepted it as an obedient
daughter. At times I felt I missed my wrong- number-
friend.......
My hubby was a moody person; I have hardly spent any
good time with him- but he was genuine indeed and
never bothered my personal space. After 2 years we had
a boy...Yet,I was not very happy with my married
life...One day I happened to browse through my diary
and found I still had my old friend's office phone no
that he had given me. I dialed it and spoke with him.
He said he was married and got a kid too. I was happy
for him though in the bottom of the heart I felt bad
that I could not marry him.
From then I used to occasionally call him on that
number. I never gave him mine as I felt that would put
me in trouble... And till today I almost shared
everything with him including my relationship with my
hubby.....today I was so happy and I wanted to call
him.
Just then I got a call. "Your husband met with an
accident and died on the spot"
I banged the phone down. I broke. I did not call my
friend.....I somehow started feeling guilty. I have
never tried to talk to him properly when he was alive
or moved close with him.... I felt I had been a bad
wife........
A couple of years passed and one day my son brought
home a Bengali girl and said they wanted to get
married. I got them married as I did not want my son
to go through what I did.
I decided to give my son his father's room and started
clearing it. There was a phone book. I gently opened
it to find, " Wrong no Sweety -26579785"
God always puts the right numbers together. Its we who
